    Sprayer/Light Equipment Operator

    The Position:

    The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking to fill the position of a permanent full time Sprayer/Light Equipment Operator. Reporting to the Agricultural Services Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating the County’s spray equipment, accurate record keeping, performing minor equipment repairs and ongoing regular maintenance of equipment and County infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead seasonal staff in accomplishing the goals of the Agricultural Services and Building Maintenance Department. This is a permanent full time, 40 hour per week position. Hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday or as required.

    Required Skills:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Hold a valid Class 5 operator’s license;
    • Hold a Pesticide Applicator’s License, or the ability to obtain, with Agricultural, Industrial and Landscape designations;
    • Have a minimum of 5 years spraying experience;
    • Meet the physical demands of the position;
    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Experience in trades such as carpentry, HVAC, electrical, welding or plumbing would be an asset;
    • Ability to operate equipment such as tractor, bobcat, backhoe;
    • Basic computer skills with the ability to operate laptop, GPS & spray equipment, or the ability to learn these skills.

    Salary is in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers Collective Agreement with the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 for a Sprayer position $25.44 to $28.27 or Light Equipment Operator at $27.47 to $30.52 per hour.
