    We are seeking a Utilities Technician III to join our Utilities team. Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Utilities Tech III assists in the compliant, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems operation.     • Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the water treatment and distribution system
    • Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the wastewater collection system
    • Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the storm water system
    • Responsible for meeting all Federal and Provincial Legislative Regulations
    • Responsible for reporting data analysis to multiple stakeholders and agencies
    • Ensure quality control and standard method practices are being utilized in order to ensure the production of safe drinking water and environmentally acceptable wastewater effluent.
    • Participates in contracted services for utility projects
    • Professionally interacting with all internal and external customers and stakeholders
    • Efficiently plan all required daily activities while ensuring that priorities in safety and compliance are always met 
    • Investigation and documentation of any/all concerns regarding water/wastewater/storm system management
    • Evaluate and advise on all new operation systems
    • Must stay current with all new technologies, standard methods, and legal requirement
    • Responsible for upgrading education as required by employer and AEP certification
    • Participation on the on-call rotation (must live within 30 minutes of City and WTP)
    • Repair and maintenance of specific job-related equipment, structures etc.

    Education and Work Experience
    • Grade 12, GED, or Equivalent
    • Attained Certificates in Level 3 Water Treatment and Level 2 in Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Level 1 in Wastewater treatment with understanding to be at actively working towards Level 3 in Wastewater Treatment by 2023.
    • Successful completion of a post-secondary program or degree in Water and Wastewater, will be considered an asset.
    • Ability to operate equipment, and clean drivers abstract
    • Either possess or willing to obtain Q Endorsement, and Class 3
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience within municipality is preferred.
    • Experience in a class 1 or higher wastewater collections and 2 or higher in water distribution
    • Experience in a class 3 water treatment plant and prefer a class 3 wastewater treatment facility but class 1 is acceptable

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Experience with drinking water safety plan development will be considered an asset
    • Good Public Relations and Conflict resolution skills are required
    • Ability to operate equipment, and clean drivers abstract
    • An intermediate knowledge of general mechanical practices
    • Ability to forecast inventory requirements/ troubleshoot
    • Ability to interpret and maintain approvals and Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements
    • Experience with computer systems including meter reading and SCADA is preferred
