Farm Transition Opportunity - Central Alberta (LEDUC)
Our farm consists of 190 acres of pasture and hay land and we rent additional land for grazing and haying. We have a nice herd of quiet cattle (averaging 30-35 units). Also, we have all the tools and equipment needed to do this type of farming, as well as handy facilities, including barns, corrals, hay shed, automatic waterers and all sorts of livestock equipment.
The land is reasonably flat, most of the weed management is done manually and the soil is healthy and if the weather is cooperative, we have good crops. There are three fenced dugouts which can be used for livestock watering in the summer months via a solar pump.
A couple of the pastures are kind of rocky. In total there are approximately 15 acres treed and inaccessible to livestock in order to preserve the trees, as windbreak and wildlife habitat. There is a yard space with a well-built house. There are two wells with good water production. The farm is best suited to what we have been doing for 35 years and we would like to see it continue that way.
We have a neat and well-established purebred cow/calf operation and are looking for a person(s) with a great interest in livestock and adequate know-how around animals and farm equipment to join us on the path of farm transition. We have farmed for 35 years and have enjoyed it very much but are getting ready to retire and want to share our legacy with the right person(s). We are committed to helping you get started and support you in a partnership to be followed by a complete transition.
