Canada Summer Jobs Program (Government of Canada)
CSJ provides wage subsidies to support employers to create quality full-time summer work experiences for youth aged 15-30 years. Employers from not-for-profit organizations and the public sector, as well as private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, are eligible to apply.
Eligible employers can receive:
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Not-for-profit employers can receive funding for up to 100% of the provincial or territorial minimum wage.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Public and private sector employers are eligible to receive funding for upĀ toĀ 50% of the provincial or territorial minimum wage.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Application period isĀ typically early November to mid December.Ā

Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) (Government of Canada)
SWPP brings together employers, students, and post-secondary institutions to create quality work-integrated learning opportunities. The program provides employers with wage subsidies to hire post-secondary students for paid work experiences. Students benefit with quality work experience so they can secure employment in their chosen fields of study.
Eligible employers can receive:
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 50% of the wages (to a maximum of $5,000) for each net new placement.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 70% of the wages (to a maximum of $7,000) for each net new placement for under-represented groups, including women in STEM, Indigenous students, newcomers, and persons with disabilities, visible minority as well as first-year students.
Applications are typically open in November for hiring students during Winter 2026Ā (January 1 to March 31):

Alberta Youth Employment (AYE) Incentive (CAREERS)
The Alberta Youth Employment (AYE) Incentive makes it easier ā and more rewarding ā for employers to bring young aged 15-24 talent into their business, helping employers fill workforce needs today while investing in the skilled workforce of tomorrow. This program is funded by the Government of Alberta and administered by CAREERS: The Next Generation.
Eligible employers can receive:
- Eligible employers may receive up to $7,500 in funding, available on a first-come, first-served basis and based on the number of youth hired.
- $4,000 for 1 to 2 youth for a minimum of 400 hours combined.
- $7,500 for 3 to 5 youth for a minimum of 750 hours combined.

Co-op Hire Incentive Program (CHIP-In) is available for any types of businesses, this is a wage subsidy grant of $2500 to hire an Alberta School of Business Co-op Student from May-August for a minimum of 280 hours (full-time roles are preferred, but part-time roles may be considered). Roles must help students build their professional skills and you must be able to provide mentorship and supervision. HERE

Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit YouthĀ If your business is in the housing industry this program provides on-the-job training for First Nation and Inuit youth along with a wage subsidy. Available for āyouthsā between the ages of 15 and 30.
Graduate Student Internship Program- University of AlbertaĀ provides funding for employers to hire a graduate student to solve a staffing or business need. Employers in all sectors can participate, including private, public and not-for-profit. You can receive 50 cents on every dollar you can put towards a student's salary (Up to $8,000)
AcadiumĀ In exchange for your coaching and guidance, Acadium apprenticeās help you with your projects, unpaid, as part of their training. Your business pays $299 per credit which is good for a 3 month volunteer.
